Tech Tip

Safety cables are a must if any fixture is being mounted overhead. The cable not only protects against failure of the clamp but adds protection while any fixtures are being adjusted or serviced.

Loop the safety cable in such a way that it will not restrict adjustment to the fixture placement but will minimize the drop distance should a mounting clamp fail.

Never use a safety cable as a guide wire or to support any continuous loads. Always observe the load capacity of the cable assembly in use.
